OFFICIAL ARRIVAL DAYS 24-26TH OF AUGUST
You will be picked up at the train station, airport or hotels/hostels by VIS staff (or other volunteers). We will take you to the International Office where you will receive keys to your accommodation and other important information. Afterwards, we will drive you to the place where you are going to stay. Some of you will live on campus, others will live in accommodations located downtown at Vallgatan.
When you get to your room, try to find other students who already have arrived and are living in your corridor, or in the same house. There might be some Swedish students that have arrived that you can ask for help to find the laundry room, kitchen and to explain the rules of the corridor, etc. If you can’t find any Swedish students try to see if you can find the laundry room and kitchen yourself or with help from other exchange students.
Make sure to check when your courses start, where they are and that you know how to get there. Study the bus schedule; you will use the bus a lot in the beginning, especially if you live outside the campus area.
VIS will have a flea market on August 25th where you find useful things for your rooms/apartments. Last year students bought pots & pans, blankets & pillows, laundry baskets and much more. Go and check it out! If you can’t find anything there you can join us to the trip to IKEA the 3rd of September. More updates will come to you through email before arrival as well as after you have arrived.
Your orientation will end with a big Welcome Dinner & Party arranged by VIS and the International Student Life coordinator. This will take place September 11th. Do not forget to buy your ticket in time! More INFO about price will be updated.
26-27th of August, there will be an orientation arranged by the International Office with two days of information. You will also have a guided tour of Campus (by foot) and Växjö (by bus).
